The app requests access to your device's location to find nearby places with better weather. This data is:
Used only while the app is active for distance calculations
Never stored on our servers or in databases

Deleted immediately after each search completes
2.2 Anonymous User Identifier
To improve app performance and prevent abuse, we generate and store a random anonymous identifier in your device's local storage:
Format: Random UUID (e.g., "123e4567-e89b-12d3-a456-426614174000")
Storage: Browser/device localStorage only
Purpose: Rate limiting and basic analytics
No personal information linked to this identifier
2.3 Weather and Geographic Data
The app queries third-party APIs to provide weather and location services:
OpenWeatherMap – Weather forecasts and conditions
Mapbox – Map visualization and location services
Supabase – City database and weather cache storage
These services receive anonymous request data (coordinates, search radius) but no personal identifiers.
2.4 Technical Data (Anonymous)
We collect minimal technical data for service improvement:
Anonymous usage statistics (aggregated)
Basic error reports and crash logs
API performance metrics (response times, error rates)
No device identifiers, IP addresses, or user agents stored
3. How We Use Information
All collected information is used exclusively for:
Displaying accurate weather forecasts and nearby locations
Calculating distances and travel directions
Improving app performance and reliability
Preventing service abuse and ensuring fair usage
We do not use your data for: marketing, advertising, profiling, or any commercial purposes.

4.1 Data Storage Locations
Weather Data: Supabase (PostgreSQL database, EU region)
City Database: Supabase (944 cities, static data)
User Identifier: Device localStorage only
Location Data: Never stored (real-time use only)
4.2 Security Measures
All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
Database connections use secure authentication
API rate limiting prevents abuse
CORS restrictions ensure only authorized domains access our APIs
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. Limited data sharing occurs only for service functionality:
OpenWeatherMap: Receives coordinates for weather queries
Mapbox: Receives coordinates for map display
Supabase: Hosts our city and weather database
Vercel: Hosts our frontend (no data access)
Fly.io: Hosts our backend API (no data storage)
6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR)
As we do not collect personal data, most GDPR rights do not apply. However, you can:
Access: View your anonymous user ID in browser storage
Deletion: Clear app data/browser storage to remove your anonymous ID
Portability: No personal data to export
Objection: Disable location access in device settings
7. Data Retention
Location Data: Not retained (real-time use only)
Anonymous User ID: Stored in device localStorage until cleared
Weather Data: Updated daily, cached for 24 hours
City Database: Static data (944 cities, permanent)
Technical Logs: Retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted
8. Children's Privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal information from any users, including children under 13.
9. International Data Transfers
Our database is hosted in the EU (Supabase EU region). Some third-party services may process data outside the EU, but only anonymous, non-personal data.
10. Cookies and Tracking
We do not use cookies or tracking technologies. The only storage is the anonymous user ID in localStorage, which cannot be used to identify you personally.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. The "Last Updated" date will always indicate the current version. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
